Red Scorpions Battle Report

Played against theleadhead this Saturday. It was a fun game that ended in a draw. I forgot my Camera (again) and so did theleadhead (again). So you will have to settle for some blurry low res pics from our cellphones. You can see Commander Culln (a space marine captain in the game) Surrounded by some smurfs and a chaplain. I was playing generic Marines so I could get used to 5th ed rules while showing theleadhead and another friend how to play. We played a capture and control mission with a pitched battle Deployment.

Scorpion Shoulder Pads by Scibor

A small update: My good friend theleadhead hooked me up with some Scorpion shoulder pads. They look great and playing around on the site I will have to do an order of my own! I used to be in awe of the Chest of Colors crew which Scibor was/is(?) a member. Scibor's green stuff work is awe inspiring, and I'm glad I can buy some of it in a non ebay setting.

I'll take some pictures of them on some minis this weekend. I have been told that the pads look too big on non termie models. I'll take pictures of them on a tactical and a termie and let you be the judge.

Tanks and Vet. Assualt Squads in progress

This is just a Quick Update. I have 2 Razorbacks mostly ready to paint. All that I have left is some file work and some gap filling. I have 2 of my veteran assault squad models put together and my oh my are they some good looking models. I was kinda on the fence when I bought em, but seeing them together has reassured me it was worth the Price tag.

How to paint Red Scorpions

This is my guide on how to Paint Red Scorpions. I hope by reading this guide you can avoid the pitfalls I encountered when painting this army. This will be fairly in depth and Ill try to have general tips marked with ** so you can gloss over them if you feel so inclined. This is a dry brush and wash painting guide so the aim is a high table top standard but nothing beyond that.

Red Scorpions... the mess

My Red Scorpions are in a scattered mess that quite frankly got out of control. Ive had some of the minis for years and started painting them before my precious adeptus battle grey. I used to have to mix black and Cold Grey to some crazy ratio to get a crappier color. The Dread will basically have to be repainted. Good thing I tend to paint in thin coats so I shouldn't lose any detail .

Termies are Finished

Ok finished painting and basing my Termies, so Its on to the Tactical squads next. I only have 20 so It will probably take me less time to finish those up than the 7 Termies.

Some Termies are painted!

I finally got some painting in. The models are 90% painted. I basically need to paint out some of the heavier spots where the wash pooled and brighten up some colors that were dulled too much. I also see some spots I need to touch up as well. These are just supposed to be a high table top standard and not a show army as far as the painting goes
